Notice of appeal filed for fired cop
The attorney for a fired Van Buren police officer filed a notice of appeal with the city Tuesday, a week after the man's dismissal was upheld by the Van Buren Civil Service Commission.

In an interview Wednesday, Van Buren attorney Marvin Honeycutt said declaring intent to appeal is the first step toward getting the Crawford County Circuit Court to review the commission's findings. He said notice of an appeal had to be filed within 30 days of the Nov. 18 hearing.

Choir to sing in D.C. Dec. 10
A local sign language choir has managed to scrape up enough money and donations and cut some corners to make the trip to Washington, D.C. to sing at the National Christmas Tree, but one of its directors said anymore help would be a "huge blessing."
